More Evidence the CCHD Supports Pro-Abortion Groups

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development continues to fund immorality.

Two new reports have been published today on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD).

Rob Gaspar at Bellarmine Veritas Ministry has dug more deeply into the CCHD relationship to the Center for Community Change (CCC).

In “Sleeping with the Enemy,” Michael Hichborn at the American Life League has also uncovered more disturbing facts about CCC. Hichborn also chronicles the personal involvement of the USCCB’s John Carr, Executive Secretary of Justice, Peace, and Human Development. Carr oversees the CCHD.

Discontinuing of CCHD collection by five bishops

Discontinuing of CCHD collection by five bishops – The Curt Jester.

Excellent news.

Our parish’s collection was low-key: I think our parish priests probably knew that there was some bad stuff going on with this collection and so didn’t trumpet it but just passed the collection baskets around. We dropped our envelope in with my donation ($0.00) and why we wouldn’t give one dime to it.

This is a good article, and the comments are good, too, in particular comment #8 from the ReformCCHD now people:

He categorically denied that the CCHD funds any group “that is specifically involved in any activity contrary to church teaching”. He also said that some groups “repeat or spread outrageous claims that the bishops are funding groups that are pro-abortion, groups that are not in support of the family, or other untruths.”

With all due respect to Bishop Morin, no one who has actually read the evidence presented by coalition members ALL and Bellarmine Veritas Ministry coalition could possibly agree with him that no CCHD grantees have actively worked against the Church in such ways.

This is simply untrue. We have caught at least 15 groups red-handed doing exactly these things. Three of them have, gratefully, been defunded. Other charges have been brushed off, such as the Los Angeles CCHD-funded groups that we have since been assured were again recently “approved by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles”. As evidence presented on clearly shows, either the Archdiocese of LA now approves of “gay marriage” and “emergency contraception and other family planning services” as being “fully in line with Catholic teaching” or they are simply ignorant, and at this point, willfully so, of the evidence against the groups in question.
